Membership in the Katahdin breed organization provides reduced prices for registry services, free
quarterly subscription to the "Katahdin Hairald" magazine, free on-line classified advertising, and access to practical and educational resources.  The 2012 Annual KHSI Expo will be held August 9-11th, in Wooster, Ohio.  The annual event includes educational seminars on sheep health, management, and production;  Farm tours  highlighting different sheep marketing and management systems;  Annual membership meeting and social gathering, and the much anticipated auction of high quality Katahdin Breeding Stock.

A regional group of Katahdin breeders located primarily in the Southern U.S., however,  membership is open to anyone.  Membership includes a quarterly newsletter, free classified ad placement, & website assistance with links to your website.  SCKA's Annual Meeting & Sale provides education, fellowship and the opportunity to buy & sell quality breeding stock. 

National Sheep Improvement Program:    www.nsip.org
A genetic performance evaluation program that provides objective measurements of economically important traits for use in identifying and selecting genetically superior sheep.  Enrollment in the NSIP allows participants to enter flock data into a computerized database, Lambplan, which generates estimated breeding values (EBV's) for growth, milk, prolificacy, and parasite resistance.
